Happy harvest from Telegraph Estate Winery!
We know, it's been quite a while since you’ve heard from us. Over here at Telegraph we have been hard at work all year, and you’ve likely seen those changes! Our gradual rebrand is nearing complete, with all new signage around the property and new Telegraph wine on the shelf! We have said this many times throughout the year, but it's worth saying again. Thank you to all of you that have supported us during this transition. As we got settled here it was important for us to consider the community around Enrico Winery and the greater Cowichan Valley.
Rudy and I felt that Telegraph Estate Winery (the road which we are located on) placed us in a geographic context, it also revealed a deeper meaning for the namesake. Telegraph Road got its namesake as the primary road that hosted the Telegraph Line in the late 1800s. This line was a connection line that joined the Asia-Pacific line to mainland Canada. The Telegraph, as a communication tool helped to connect us, and make the world feel a bit more interwoven. We believe that wine is capable of doing the same thing. A bottle of wine invites good company, and makes us all feel a bit closer to one another. Whether you stop into the tasting room with friends for lunch, a tasting, or grab a bottle on the way to a family dinner. We hope you carry the spirit of togetherness with you!
Harvest has already started this year with one of our Ortega blocks. A cool climate varietal that creates a crisp, refreshing, and aromatic white wine.
Picking will resume for us in a couple weeks, along with bottling some new Telegraph Pinot Noir (2025) which will be ready for you to try in our tasting room by the end of October! Interested in being a part of our picking crews? Send us an email! While Geoff and his team have been hard at work in the vines and production room. The tasting room and our kitchen continues to operate Wednesday-Sunday Noon-5pm. Our tasting room is currently a bit of a hybrid model, we will continue selling Enrico wines alongside our new Telegraph wines until we are sold out! Currently the tasting room has various deals and Enrico merch for Enrico wine bottle purchases, come check us out! Our Telegraph product will slowly begin to pop up in restaurants and liquor stores on the Island, as well as in our online shop. Stay tuned!
In addition to these changes you may have seen a couple of our previous events at Telegraph. We hosted two Jazz on the Lawn Concerts this summer and had an amazing time! For September we are hosting a harvest season Low Country Boil, featuring music by Americana, Folk/Roots Trio The Ranters! A low country boil is a form of seafood boil featuring a medley of crab, shellfish, prawn, sausage, corn, and potato. Generally this is done in one large pot and spread across a table. For us, to ensure everyone gets a fair picking, each group will get their own boil bucket to enjoy. The Low Country Boil is September 26, 2026 and begins at 5:30pm until 8pm!
